ENCOURAGING TALENT IS ONE OF THE MTA’S KEY PRIORITIES – WE AIM TO CREATE LINKS BETWEEN THE EDUCATION COMMUNITY AND OUR MEMBERS, AS WELL AS THE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE.
The Education & Training Zone which will bring together teachers, students and industry like never before. Using the Education & Training Zone as a focal point, the MTA aims to inspire, prepare and motivate the next generation of British engineers through a rewarding experience within the MACH show.
The Zone will be used as a focal point to engage with the education sector, as well as providing an interesting and exciting visitor attraction. It will be designed to be inspirational, presenting manufacturing and engineering as a positive and stimulating career choice. The Education & Training Zone will further be used as a launch pad into the main halls where the real engineering is showcased.
BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car The BLOODHOUND SSC and educational programme will amaze and inspire, bringing to life the BLOODHOUND mission to; ‘Confront the impossible and overcome it using Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics’.
British Gliding Association’s Simulator A virtual reality gliding experience used by professionals and hobbyists alike, visitors can strap in and take-off!
The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing’s MANufacturing TRAnsporter A specially equipped 14m long lorry designed to give aspiring young engineers hands-on experience with real-life, cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.
Formula Gravity The builders and producers of downhill racing car kits for schools and colleges will inspire students and teachers in the fields of engineering and motorsport.
ABB Robotics A leading supplier of industrial robots – providing the chance to get hands-on and see how robots are used everyday in the workplace.
Visitors can also expect dynamic talks from educators and industry figures as part of an engaging seminar programme.

Educational Tours |
As part of the Education & Training Zone programme at MACH2010, the Manufacturing Technologies Association and the Design and Technology Education Partnership will organise and run managed educational tours for 14-16 year olds, with a focus on those students studying Manufacturing and Engineering Diplomas.
The tour programme will feature a session in the Education & Training Zone, with hands-on activities and live demonstrations, as well as a professionally led seminar. The tours will demonstrate key manufacturing processes around the main halls to create a memorable educational visit.
